The Twin Turbo Furious takes the exceptionally cool and uniquely complex Twin Turbo concept and takes it to the next level by adding a Monopusher Chronograph and Pit Board time difference calculator to the original’s twin triple-axis tourbillon and decimal minute repeater. With its painstakingly hand-decorated and hand-assembled 832 components, the Twin Turbo Furious is a true Grand Complication Masterpiece that offers a singular combination of ultra-high-end mechanisms, all exclusive to Jacob & Co.
The Twin Turbo and Twin Turbo Furious combine the exhilarating energy experienced in the world’s fastest automobiles with the unparalleled refinement and mechanical complexity only present in the universe of haute horlogerie. Powering the Twin Turbo Furious’ main time display and monopusher chronograph functionalities are its twin triple-axis tourbillons: the most complicated, technically most challenging and visually most enthralling in the history of tourbillons. Encased in their delicately finished and ultra-light-weight cages, spinning through space in a succession of lightning fast, yet calculated movements, the Twin Turbo Furious can depend on two regulating organs. Each of these triple-axis tourbillons are composed of a stunning total of 104 components – and yet weighing a truly featherweight 1.15 grams.
Part of the Twin Turbo’s 832-component JCFM05 Manufacture Jacob & Co caliber is a decimal minute repeater – the most exotic and rare among chiming complications. Pull the lever set into the left-hand side of the Twin Turbo Furious’ highly engineered case – crafted from Carbon Fiber combined with 18K Rose Gold or Black DLC Grade 5 Titanium, depending on the model – to hear the crystal clear sound of its cathedral gongs.
The Twin Turbo Furious is yet another groundbreaking Jacob & Co creation, one that is like no other to have ever existed in fine watchmaking before. Be the one to feel the energy of its two beating hearts and listen to its movingly beautiful chime – experience haute horlogerie like never before.
In 2019, Bugatti and Jacob & Co. signed a multi-year partnership to create unique, never-before-seen timepieces. These watches are true to the spirit of both companies, while taking watchmaking to impossible heights
To inaugurate this partnership led by performance, two timepieces were created. These watches, based on the Twin Turbo Furious and the Epic X Chrono, were directly inspired by the unique design and spirit of Bugatti hypercars.
In 2020, Jacob & Co. and Bugatti introduced new watches in the Twin Turbo Furious collection, and the Bugatti Chiron, a completely new line.
The Twin Triple-Axis Tourbillon is the most complicated, technically most challenging and visually most encapsulating among all tourbillons. Whereas the tourbillon was originally invented to be a single-axis, rotating platform to carry the regulating organ of a mechanical pocket watch for improved timekeeping performance, the Twin Turbo brings this 220-year-old invention into the future of fine watchmaking.
Through cutting-edge engineering design and state-of-the-art manufacturing and hand-assembly techniques, the Twin Turbo’s double triple-axis tourbillons have become the very ultimate solution in tourbillon-enhanced chronometric performance. Rotating and lightning fast speeds of 24, 8 and 30 seconds along the three axes of rotation, the engineering refinement of this configuration is only superseded by its visual impact: seeing purely mechanical assemblies of such refinement in such high-speed, yet accurate motion is the holy grail of ultra-fine watch connoisseur experiences.
Timepieces with chiming complications earned an especially greatly revered position in watchmaking for their complexity, refinement and engineering challenges. The Decimal Minute Repeater is the most exotic and rarest of them all, splitting the chimed time into hours, tens of minutes and minutes – as opposed to hours, quarters and minutes, like most all other minute repeaters do. This noteworthy detail hints at an entirely redesigned and novel chiming mechanism which, when combined with the Twin Turbo Furious’s cathedral gongs, make the exclusive Jacob & Co JCFM03 caliber singular among Grand Complication creations. Protecting the mechanical integrity of the decimal minute repeater is the Patented Double Mechanical Safety Feature, engineered to safeguard the chiming mechanism from being impacted by an attempted adjustment of the indicated and audible dime during the chiming sequence.
Bringing the hypercar-inspired Twin Turbo even closer to the world of the fastest automobiles is its Monopusher Chronograph. Its horizontal clutch system is operated by a column wheel linked to the chronograph’s pusher that, in turn, is integrated into the crown lever system on the right side of the case. Linked to the chronograph is the Pit Board feature, a colored and rotating disc that allows for an easy and novel way of calculating lap time differences at a glance.
The Twin Turbo Furious is presented in an entirely unique case of outstanding visual and technical complexity – and wearing comfort that is to be personally experienced to be believed. All cases feature a layered carbon fiber outer shell and an inner, high-polished case, crafted from Black DLC Grade 5 Titanium, or 18K Rose Gold. The case measures 57.00 by 52.00 millimeters and is 17.00 millimeters thick, including specially curved sapphire crystals on front and back that provide a completely unobstructed view of the exceptionally finished 832-component JCFM05 caliber.
For optimum legibility of the chronograph’s indications, the Twin Turbo Furious introduced a smoked dark grey sapphire crystal dial, that partially reveals the components underneath it while allowing for enhanced legibility. The periphery of the dial is crafted from a rare and exotic material called Neoralithe, with luminescent indices in Super-LumiNova. The hours and minutes are indicated by specially skeletonized and bi-colored main hands, driven by exquisitely finished gears, connecting them to the twin triple-axis tourbillons.
