Watch OMEGA has just unveiled a new Omega Seamaster 300M watch with Nekton. Nekton is a non-profit research foundation whose sole purpose is in exploring and protecting the oceans — its First Descent mission began in 2019 with the Indian Ocean.
This special edition diver features a laser-ablated black ceramic [ZrO2] dial with matte finishing and polished waves in positive relief. The unidirectional bezel is also made with grade-5 titanium with a laser-ablated diving scale. Powering the watch is a Calibre 8806 movement that has been finished with Geneva waves in arabesque followed by a rhodium-plated rotor and bridges. While the watch is a formidable diver, it is also resistant to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss.
OMEGA Watches comments: “Our friends at Nekton are protecting the ocean with the global goal of 30% protection by 2030. As a pioneering brand with a long history of pushing at the boundaries of what is possible, we have the utmost respect for this bold, confident vision and we’re thrilled to help make the goal a reality.”
The caseback depicts the Seamaster 2 vessel, in honor of Sir Peter Blake, in great detail, and is available in the choice of a rubber strap ($5,850 USD) or stainless steel bracelet ($6,150 USD). Those interested can head over to OMEGA for the pre-order details.
